When I was a kid my mum would send us off to school with our lunch packed in a brown paper bag. She would make five lunches the night before and we would collect our brown bags from the crisper in the morning. She often wrote a handwritten message on the front. Inside these brown paper bags were delicious sandwiches, often a little too gourmet for my unsophisticated palette. Chicken schnitzel, lettuce and mayo were her specialty and she included interesting snacks like pate and cheese, alongside a token piece of fruit. Her lunches were legendary at school but they were not especially environmentally friendly. The sandwiches and snacks were all individually wrapped in plastic wrap or foil to keep fresh.
Today parents are much more environmentally attuned and so are our kids. The brown paper bag has been replaced with non-toxic, waste free lunch box choices. BPA, PVC free and insulated lunch bags now reduce the need for packaging and plastic wrap and rubbish.
When my daughter started school this year I remember being overwhelmed by the lunchbox containers on the market. But one particular brand stood out – The Nude Food Movers range by Smash. I bought a few of the sandwich and snack containers and have recently added to my collection. The Nude Food products are designed to make it easier to reduce packing, reduce waste, keep food fresh and promote a healthier lifestyle. Lots of ticks!
The benefits of packing a rubbish free lunch are well known. Rubbish free days are now part of the kinder and school curriculum and this range provides mums with an easy lunch packing solution. My daughter had a rubbish free week at kinder not long ago and I had forgotten one day and packed a squeezey yoghurt. It wasn’t the teachers who ticked me off but my daughter. Nothing like being reprimanded by your own child to never forget a lesson!
The Nude Food Movers range consists of a range of reusable plastic ware: lunchboxes, sandwich and snack boxes, and stackable snack tubes. Each product has been specifically designed to help build healthy, nutritious, homemade lunches and snacks without the use of landfill-favourites like wrappers, foils and plastic cling films.
All products are BPA free and absolutely food safe, making them the perfect choice for families wanting a fun way to transport their food while reducing their environmental footprint! My girls love all the mini tubs and lunch box compartments. My personal favourite is the yoghurt mover. as it comes with a Leak proof and transportable, the Yoghurt Mover comes with Equipped with a spoon and freeze gel walls,, which means it will stay fresh even out of the fridge for a few hours. The cutlery container is very clever and perfect for picnics.
I fully support Nude Food Movers’ philosophy of saving the planet one lunch at a time. These handy products make it easier to reduce, re-use and recycle and will help inspire your family’s ‘nude food’ adventures. Available in all good retailers. I can’t pass down the act of drawing on a brown paper bag to my girls, but I can sneak in little notes into their lunchboxes, which they love!
