On the weekend, my “baby” turned FOUR! This is totally baffling to me as I am convinced she was only born last week!
I know that Covid has played havoc with my sense of time this year, but I am in disbelief that four years have passed since she was born. I remember her labour with (intense) clarity. She certainly arrived making quite the entrance (and a lot of noise) and she hasn’t stopped making noise since!
But here we are, celebrating four laps around the sun.
A Frozen party for Miss 4
In typical four-year-old fashion, Miss Indi is in love with fairies, magic and make believe. She’s also quite infatuated with tulle, sequins and costumes. She refuses to wear anything other than dresses (#pickyourbattles) and there’s nothing subtle about her taste. The sparklier and louder, the better!

The first movie we took her to was Frozen 2 and she was utterly captivated, so it was no surprise when she requested a Frozen theme for her birthday. I have lost count of the number of times she has watched Frozen 1 and Frozen 2 and Frozen Fever….and Frozen Lego. Let’s just say she’s had a lot more screen time than her sisters!
While she initially favoured Ana, Elsa’s powers soon overshadowed Ana’s qualities. Power wins in Miss Indi’s world. She even got into a fight with someone at her childcare centre who dared to suggest that she didn’t have powers. Indi’s reaction was unforgiving!
So, in the spirit of all things Frozen she received a Frozen card on her birthday, featuring her FAVE people in the world. And the best part? It’s personalised, so there can be no mistaking who it belongs to. She’s made that very clear.
When she opened her personalised mug, her reaction was priceless. She hugged it tightly and recognising her name she proclaimed: “This is MINE!” You can’t blame her, most four-year-olds are pretty preoccupied with themselves!
Moonpig have a huge selection of online greeting cards, personalised cards, and photo upload cards. You can also make your Moonpig birthday card one-of-a-kind by customising the front with a custom message and add in a unique note on the inside.

This year all my other girls had Zoom parties (which were great) but Melbourne’s lockdown finally ended so we decided to have a small party at home. I tend to keep parties pretty small at this age anyway, so she invited five of her friends over for a Frozen themed party with a side of unicorns!

We kept it VERY simple with fairy bread, a frozen cake, fruit cups and cupcakes. Ordinarily I would spend HOURS baking all the party food, but this year I decided if ever there was a time for the “low effort, high impact” approach, this was it. After the year we’ve had, it was just about celebrating her special day with cake (and some champagne for the grown ups!)
Out of all the presents we gave her, I think the mug was the biggest hit. She carries it around with her and insists on taking it to bed with her!

Her sisters now want personalised cards and mugs too. I already have my eye on a ballet-themed card for my eldest, and I have a funny card in mind for Mr NASD’s next birthday, too. But I won’t spoil that surprise just yet…

Happy birthday to my funny, fierce and FABULOUS four-year-old. You bring as much sparkle to our lives as your birthday dress, which is to say, A LOT! You were meant to be, my rainbow baby. Thank you for the colour, energy and laughter you bring to our lives. We love you to bits!
